I have a huge issue with this...i always get distracted, and i lose track of time constantly, when i have homework on the computer i spend 2 hours on the net before i start it. When the computer isnt on, i turn on the music and space out, this happens when im not listening to music too. I dont know what to do, it takes me so long to finish my homework because of this. I also start on my homework late, cuz i have sports and i need time to relax. Advice? ><

No music, no computer. Just sit down and focus. Before you get online, make a list of what you need to look up. Then get each item and cross it off the list.

Also, avoid caffeine in the afternoon. It stays in your system for hours and makes it hard to focus. So can the adrenaline from working out. You should try and do your homework on the weekends or before sports.

Oh, I had this problem too when I was in school, and now I realize how much time I wasted!!

Here's my suggestions:
(1.) Try to get as much homework done as you can before you get home, if you have time....for example, if you have a test and get done early, then work on some homework, that's less that you will have to do later.

(2.) When you are doing homework, don't listen to music, do not get on the net before you do your homeowork....you know that you are going to get distracted, so don't go on, try to get rid of all distractions so that it won't take you so long.

(3.) Work on a routine.....take a fifteen minute break when you get home, but don't go over fifteen minutes. Have a target time to get your homework done -- shoot to get done by 9pm, then reward yourself by spending two hours on the net AFTER your homework is done.

(4.) Learn to discipline yourself and learn willpower. If you're going to suceed in school and later in college (I'm assuming you're in high school), then learning discipline is a must!!

(5). Remember the sooner you get your homework done, the sooner you can do other stuff, and you won't have the stress of worrying about getting your homework done.

I hope this helps. Best of Luck to you!!
