So I got a letter in the mail that had a return address of:

Fleet
9674 E. Arapahoe Road #210
Englewood, CO 80112

It said:

Dear _____,

Delivery was attempted at your address between the hours of 1:00-4:00 pm on December 2-, 2--5. Unfortunatly the driver did not find you at home to sign for the delivery. In order to recieve your delivery please call us at (800)568-6474 extension #2490 and leave your name, proper address and proper time for us to re-deliver.

Sincerely,

Debbie McKnight
Customer Service Manager

So I called the number and left a message asking for a return call. Nothing. I called back and left a message that I have not ordered a package and to please return my call. Nothing.

this indeed is a scam of ridiculous proportions. first they send you a letter (if local) or email (random fishing) announcing that some relative of yours died and left u an estate worth millions of dollars and you being the sole heir pls reply back atonce? the latest are the announcements about MicroSoft Foundation (!) or UK Lottery (!) drew lots with your email address and you have come up winner for tens of millions of dollars and so will u pls contact Mr or Ms so-and-so to claim the prize.

if u happen to get one like this, you are the target of 405-ers (relating to sec-405 of probably US Criminal Law- frauds) who will first take whatever money you have on you, and vanish without trace leaving you with dreams of the alleged prize money or estate your relative left for u.

in your case, it seems to be collection of household information because you left ur name and phone nmr which is enough for a later-day targeting. be on the look out for such a call after sometime. you are sure to get one. in that case, call 911 and hand the buggars over to the law.

Sounds like a cheap marketing trick. The "package" is probably a sales packet about "whatever."

Reliable delivery companies don't have that kind of customer service. And most scammers or telemarketers don't answer calls -- they only call you.
