unless you plan on falling asleep at your computer, I think the first thing you need to do is remove yourself from the computer, as your brain will go into overload, and overstimulated, and that might be a part of your problem.

Once you get away from the computer, and stay away from the television, your brain will start to unwind, and you can find a place in your home where you feel comfortable, and prepare yourself for some much needed rest.

I do self-hypnosis, and meditation when I have difficulties sleeping. It does work and if you're very self-disciplined and serious about wanting to 'sleep', then you need to consider trying some self-hypnosis, to tell yourself to relax, and tell every body part to relax, and you need to keep your eyes closed, and stay in a lying position, in a dark room (preferably in your bed).

If you want to try meditation, then find some soft music, and turn it down to where you can barely hear it, and lie on your bed, with the lights out, and keep your eyes closed, and clear your thoughts, or if you're dwelling on something, then you need to tell yourself, over and over, again, that it's time to put those thoughts to rest, and your body and mind need to relax and rest.

Try not to converse with anyone, or be distracted in any way, when you are trying to prepare your body for sleep. You need that time for just 'you' and that space that you need to allow your body and mind to relax and go to sleep.

Take an extended, long, hot shower, and try drinking some warm milk, and keep the computer and television off, and only keep some music on, but soft music, turned down. That usually helps.
