Graduation Day is approaching quick and now I'm finishing up with my college forms, the only problem is that I have no earthly idea what I'm going to major in OR even what I want to do with my life.

I had a couple of ideas, but the decision gets even harder the more I think about it.(1) I want to do something entertainment wise, and I don't mean backstage crew either. All my life I've enjoyed performing for people, getting my chance to shine, and pleasing those watching me, and since I have a passion for acting and performing musically, I thought it would be a no brainer...but kind to find out, jobs in the acting and music industry aren't exactly "stable". Basically, when I graduate from college I won't have a steady paying job right away. So I thought I could (2) major in something that would provide me with a stable job...but that job would most likely not be something I enjoy. I don't want to hate my life when I get to that point. What should I do? Can anyone help me out?

A lot of people have no clue what they're going to major in once they get into college. Truth is, often you can just take general ed. classes for the first two years and still do fine. Actually, I would recommend that more than something that you go all for only to find out that you changed your mind later. But definitely take a couple of classes in the area you love and are thinking about. In reality, often the major isn't important to jobs because so many work outside of what they majored in anyway. A lot of people just care that you had a degree--who cares what in. So really, make sure you enjoy the major you choose.

Follow your dream of performing! Now is the best time of your life to pursue it. You can try something more practical if it doesn't work out. But realize that no matter what you pursue, it's going to be a different world once you graduate, and not always an easy or fun one. But keep a positive attitude and don't be afraid of failure. There are going to be ups and downs on the path. The bottom line, though, is that if you're doing what you love, the rest isn't that important. Life is too short not to pursue your dreams.

don't worry about it. whatever you major in you probably won't end up doing. just pick some general skills, like engineering, or interior decorating (Chicks love that, as long as you can prove to them you're not gay). Do you're entertainment gigs whenever you have free time, Do NOT settle for what you have, or you will never get where you want. Look, I'm finishing up school too, I really don't know what I'm going to do, but I do know this; don't worry, be happy. And, never loose sight of what you are doing, cause once its out of your sight its gone...and it may never come back into view.

Now is a good time to learn how to write down your goals.

A good way to start is to take 30 minutes and write down as many things you think you want to do in life regardless how bizarre or impossible they may seem. You can revise your list later.

Go to the library and study this subject - just don't leave your life to chance or a bunch of hazy notions that never seem to materialize.

Get a day job, maybe as a high school drama teacher or something, and spend evenings acting in local theatre or in something bigger like Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

Look for a job a entertainment industry. Like music exec, Casino rep, etc..

Realistically, find a job you can tolerate, if you cant find one you love.

Then develop your personal hobbies to keep yourself happy.
