The long answer: yes, Nintendo plans to allow games to be played online with the Wii.

Oh yea definately: Wii is going to, and has already set up a massive online feature, and the best part is its all free( if you have broadband) you will be able to play games over the internet against anyone in the world, using friend codes you can even find and play your favourite games agaisnt your friends, it going to be great!

I believe Super Smash Brothers Brawl is set to be the first Wii game with online functionality.
