I think Black women are somewhat less open to interracial dating as a rule then White women.
But thats just a guess.
It could be that white men just hit on black women less then black guys hit on white women.

I agree with you. Race shouldn't really matter. I think you answered your question though. Its because it is not statistically all that common for black women to be with white males. I know of a couple.
It is usually the female that picks the male. Not the other way around.
A part of this is stigma associated with black gangs common in all of North America. A few black men are pimps and dealers. This factor of career choice must be factored in. Its a popular perspective. White males are more likely to work in noncriminal activities.
We all know this is due to the fact that there is more career opportunity and choice for young white males. So if you think about it this popular view of the stereotype carries into the relationship. So the relationship you query about stands out but not for the right reasons but for the wrong reasons.

I believe it has something to do with the history and portrayal of Black men and White women throughout the ages. Black men have been portrayed as beast if you will for years... while White women have often been portrayed as being innocent, pure. At one point in time in our nation's history Black men could face possible lynching for even looking at a White woman. I believe as a result of these kinds of portrayals some people are fixated with the idea of them being together i.e. dating, marrying, loving each other, having children. The irony is Black men aren't beast, and all White women aren't all innocent. So there really shouldn't be any surprise or shock factor there... Black men may very well enter in some relationships with White women being of higher character, moral ethics etc... the same could be true of any race, for the simple fact that ones race cannot define the kind of character one possesses... anyways this is my opinion on your question!

I've been having a 12 year relationship with a black gal and I am white. We sure do get the looks because we are interracial but I really don't give a rats a*ss who thinks what.
But your right though. It is more socially acceptable to be black male and white female.
PS, Most black women wont marry a white man due to family up bringing. However with the climbing violence on the rise I think the older generation respect white men marrying their daughters.

In the United States white women are upheld as the model of purity. It is more psychologically threatening to see a black man, with the implicit brand of slavery still intact in our society's collective unconscious, than to see a white man with a black woman. White men in the United States essentially extend their dominance over American society by mating with just about whomever they please. Much of this dominance is codified in the penal codes of many states. Miscegnation laws, while not wholeheartedly enforced, are still extant on the books.

No idea! I don't really pay attention to skin color but I do find what Crystal89 said very interesting. I do wonder if one day the human race will all be one color...orange perhaps, hehe.
