It is officially my birthday, yaaay! Whenever i hear a person remark that their birthday is just another day to them I am always curious about what the hell happened to make them lose the magic and happiness that a birthday brings. I have been a first grade teacher for 14 years and ALL the children I ever knew thought their birthday was a special day made just for them to be celebrated. One of my students' birthday is the same as mine so we are having a party in class, then later my man is taking me out for a romantic dinner and, um, dessert. .Yes theorictically it is 'just another day' but ..."Go LadyDay it's your birthday, it's your birthday!"

You have a wonderful attitude, and you deserve to enjoy your birthday as you do. I commend you on having such a positive attitude of your life and the celebration of life, which I've learn that a lot of people don't have, sadly. We seem to get too caught up in the grind.

I have made my birthday out as just another day the last few years. I guess I don't want the attention (for whatever reason). Maybe it's to avoid a lot of social contact (I'm quite shy). Maybe I'm afraid that if I invite people out, they won't show up. Anyway, it's an avoidance of a lot of things.

But I'm not worried about getting older. I'm only worried about not making the most of the prior year, which I realized I haven't for the last 5 years at least. Your post has reminded me to make each year special, which if goes according to plan, I should have a fulfilling life!

Thanks for your post, and Happy Birthday! Yes, we should all take time to celebrate ourselves and our lives, and to just have an excuse to have fun. Aren't we all just first graders, only with more hair?? Take care.

I am 54 chronological years old. However, every time I have a birthday I always remember the past birthdays. Especially when I was young. The birthday party and the friends. Each year I remember the one before and how special I always felt. My Mom has always made me feel special and I still call her on my day to remind her that I was the first of eight. Of course I remind her that she kept on trying to get someone as perfect as me. Joking. I love my birthday.

I used to get particularly excited - like 3 months formerly i might start up counting down haha. yet final 3 hundred and sixty 5 days (when I grew to become 14) i did no longer get excited in any respect.. it grew to become into in basic terms like yet another day. i think of human beings strengthen out of the buzz.

Happy brithday. See a birthday is really a day to be remembered and enjoyed. Unfortunately nowadays due to dynamic activities in work and lots of emotional strains due to failure, jealousy etc , etc are making their life miserable and are losing the values and are unable to laugh or enjoy auspious days like brithday, marriage day etc and even if somebody tells them they simply give a lip sympathy type of wishes. Alas where are we heading ourselves nowadays.

i dont.. but maybe its because as we are little kids, we got awesome presents.. like toys or dolls and ice-cream cake.
but as we grew older, we got horrible presents like clothes which we hated and eventually lost the excitement of becoming a year older. not to mention knowing how many calories are in that cake and ice cream..
but happy birthday.

No. But I admire your child-like ability to enjoy them. Maybe if we were ALL like you- the world would be a better place... :) -Who's to say?
