Sounds like your mom is excited about being a grand-mom and is great at crocheting. The art of crocheting isn't hard to master and depending on the pattern she's using, some can usually be done without actually watching every "stitch" you make. Give your mom a big hug, tell her you love her and be happy that she's speedy and good at something she obviously loves doing!

I get what you mean about your mom being a beast. My mom is like that with sewing. She made my prom dress in about 2 hours and it looked like a designer gown.
Your mom is very very talented. It takes me about 7-8 hours to crochet a baby blanket and have it look that good. You wouldn't want to see what it would look like if I made it in an hour and a half! lol

She propabely had a flannel blanket and crochet'd an edging around it. Unless the blanket is more hole than blanket. But however it happened its a nice present for the soon to be nephew

Mom's are different than males. some males don't have any artistic skills, but anyway
your mom probably paid attention to her mother or grandmother when they crochet'd. She like way they were doing so she practice to get as good as them or better.
But, I would say it normal for a woman to knitt very well.

Dude, that's so cool! I only wish I had that kind of talent. The only thing I know how to do is draw. - and sew. but not very great at either. - bake. .. Well, yeah that's about it.

Wow, you have a treasure for a mother. Aren't you even a little curious about her other talents? I would be.
