I feel the attachment whenever I listen to music, and it doesn't have to always be lyrics.
I like to listen to instrumental, Jazz, Piano, Orchestrated, flute, etc. I like listening to classics like Mozart, Beethoven. Also the Braveheart Soundtrack is a good example of music without words.
I feel sentimental whenever I hear the music because there is that sense of connection, like there is hope in life, but I have to get through the muck in order to discover the meanings.

sentimental? as in depressed? well i do all the time. everynow and then you just gotta stop listening to something thats sad. and with today's music, thats kinda hard to do cause everything seems to be more mellow or depressing. So just stop listening to music for awhile so that you can get back on track. Ipods/MP3 players can be addicting but dont let them bring down your life.

I've experienced some of the strongest emotions of my life just by listening to music, strangely enough - and I haven't had a dull life.
I beg to differ with Blossom - I'm listening to Muse right now, and it's definitely uplifting my soul! So do Radiohead & Coldplay. Just because you react that way to rock doesn't mean everyone does!

Different kinds of music elicits different emotions. Slow, soft
music is usually soothing and relaxing, while acid rock can stir
up anger or bitterness. If you always listen to the same kind of
music, well hey, you're going to experience the same feelings or
emotions. Experiment--try different kinds of music, write down
the feelings you get, and see how you could change your moods
simply by changing the radio station.

I was just thinking the same thing today. It depends on what type of music it is. If I hear really soft and beautiful tones, then it relaxes me and often gets me a bit teary-eyed.

Music has been edifying since the dawn of time!
it can uplift the soul or plunge you down into the depths of sickly darkness.
Tap into google and look up frozen water crystals.
we are made up of so much water inside us. music can make us feel beautiful, calm, relaxed, nostalgic and etc, or if its ROCK, can make one feel thick, aggressive, argumentive and etc.
music has feeling and can be emotionaly powerful if given the respect and dignity it deserves.
