it certainly doesnt make us any smarter....its just another form of escapism- I'm sure the celebs wouldnt make half as much $$$ if we all decided to just not care about their relationships,scandals, fashions,etc.... and if the paparazzi were suddenly captivated by the African safari! Its a strange force that draws us in....and sometimes sucks the contentedness from our very souls.

Today's popular culture just shows that nobody really gives a damn that you protect the streets, save lives, educate children for the future, or do anything productive. Oh but you show your boobs and put out? You play a sport for a living? You play power chords and write songs that have "GIRRRL!!!" every five seconds? Boom, six-figure income. It's ridiculous. No wonder why effort in school has gone down exponentially. You can just do things that you normally do for fun on MySpace or YouTube and just get paid for being you.
