I have always used iTunes to burn my CDs. Now all of a sudden, I can't. I even updated my software and still nothing. What gives?

Here are things to note and try:
Make sure you're trying to burn a playlist (a list of songs). You can't burn a disc directly from your library, the Radio, a shared playlist, or your iPod.
If you burn a CD or DVD but the right songs aren't copied, or if nothing happens when you click the Burn Disc button, make sure the correct songs are checked in the playlist.
To create an audio CD, make sure you have an Apple Combo drive drive or SuperDrive. Some third-party CD-RW drives also work. To see if an external drive works with iTunes, choose iTunes > Preferences, click Advanced, and then click Burning. If your drive is listed, it's compatible.
Make sure the correct disc format is selected: Choose iTunes > Preferences, click Advanced, and then click Burning. To create a CD with any type of audio file that iTunes supports (MP3, AAC, AIFF, and so on), choose "Data CD or DVD." If the playlist you're trying to burn includes AAC files, make sure MP3 CD is not selected.
If your playlist includes iTunes Store purchases, you may have exceeded the number of times (seven) you can burn this playlist.
If CD burning stops at a particular song, the playlist might include iTunes Store purchases that haven't been authorized to play on this computer. To authorize this computer, double-click the purchased song (where CD burning stopped) and enter the information for the account that purchased the song. You can authorize up to five computers at a time.
If your computer or display goes to sleep while you're burning a CD, try increasing the sleep timing settings in the Energy Saver pane of System Preferences.
If a burned CD stutters when you play it in an external CD-RW drive, try an internal drive or a stereo system.
If your CD burn is unsuccessful and your external drive becomes unresponsive, turn the drive off and on to reset it.
If you can't eject a blank CD, click the Eject Disc (in the bottom-right corner of the iTunes window).
Movies purchased from the iTunes Store can't be burned to a DVD or VCD that will play in a DVD player or Video CD.

First of all itunes is not used for burning purposes and that is why it might not work on your computer or laptop. So, to do this you must bye the software Nero and that will help you to burn your CDs. As this is a software used for burning CDs, or you might just not have a CD burner.

Are you particular you're examining the on the spot properly? each now and then, after checking the media, it says, "you've inserted a clean disk." All you are able to do is create your playlist, open that playlist, insert a clean CD-R and press the burn button in both the decrease or top suitable hand nook. it may start up after that.
