I only say "peachy keen" once in a blue moon but "swell" wow, I would laugh if I heard anyone I know using that word. It's just so brady bunch.

Yeah... my buddy Sean plays alto sax. He uses 'swell' a lot. He also says things like "Hey there cat, get out your axe"... these things somehow sound 'right' coming from his lips. He is the only man alive who can get away with calling me kitten... and unscathed at that.
I say things like "Peachy keen, jelly bean"... but ONLY when my students need a good dose of nausea to grab their attention. That is truly NOT my preferred mode of communication. I only get sickeningly sweet when pissed off.

Haven't heard these used in a long, long time.
They were things that adults occasionally said when I was a child in the 1940s, so they must have been used in the 1920s or 1930s.
