I make diaper cakes.....so if you go with someone's suggestino on getting one of those you should check out my site!! I would love to create a cake just for the baby you are celebrating! (Just make sure you know whether the theme is Pooh or Classic Pooh!!!)
I also have a link on my website that has some SENTIMENTAL activities to have at the shower. Nice refreshing activities that your guests haven't already done at the last five showers they attended!! It's nice to have sentiment at the shower....for people to share THEIR excitement, too!
I am putting a link to my website and the Shower Activity page below....I hope you may find them useful!

/instead of the don't cross you legs thing to get clothes pins.
The last shower went to had pacifiers on string.. They must sell them at a party store. The people coming in can't say the word Baby after they get their pacifier or the loose it.. Then one with the most gets a prize.
Get a large plastic baby bottle and fill it with the new mom to be's favorite candy "m&m's, kisses, skittles" or whatever. Have everyone fill out a small card/paper to go in a bowl that has how many of that candy in the bottle. The mom gets the Big bottle of candy and the person that got the closest to the amount in the bottle gets a bag of it for their prize. It is an enormous bottle. Probably 12 to 16 inches tall.. Must sell at the party store.
We played the candy bar in diaper game too.. I didn't like it though.. takes along time.
The Tray Memory Game
Before the game starts Put 15 to 20 small items associated with babies on a tray. These should be items such as a bottle, pacifier, baby sock, safety pin, baby's brush, baby oil etc.
Give each of your guests a piece of paper and a pencil to write down their answers.
To start the game bring the tray into the room and place it where all the guests can see it but tell them not to touch, leave the tray in that position for one minute and tell the guests to memorize the items that are on the tray, then remove the tray from the room and give the guests five minutes to write down on pieces of paper what all the items were. The guest who gets the most items correct is the winner.
One baby shower I helped put together, I bought the thank you cards for the mom and when the guest arrived I had them fill out the front of the envelope with their addresses so that the mom didn't have to do that part.

Well, even though her theme is Winnie-the-Pooh, it might be a little too much of an overkill to use that as the party theme. For my shower during my pregnancy with my daughter, my friends decorated with simple pastel colors (it was in april) and they strung some string on one side of the room for a clothesline and hung up onesies and baby shoes with those little mini clothespins. It looked so adorable, and the things they hung up were part of my gifts. Games are super easy to find online, just google "baby shower games ideas" and you'll find plenty. Also, I have an AWESOME pink punch recipe made from raspberry sherbet, you can find it here------
http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Yummy-Pink-Punch/Detail.aspx
Good luck, and just keep it simple. Most people like to go to a shower and just have fun hanging out and talking. Stick to one or two simple games. Opening the gifts is the fun part, so allow more time for that.

Best present I've seen so far is someone using thin rope and hanging all the clothes purchased on it. So when the mom-to-be pulls them out, everything is hung on a line. Another gift is to purchase on of those wooden wreaths and decorate it with baby clothing, clothes, blankets, rattles, etc You can make a bow of wash clothes and what-not. Hang it on the door so the guests are sure that is the correct address. It is also the gift. You can also use that as a game to see if people remember what was on it. Best game has to be the one where everything baby related is on a tray. Send mom-to-be out of the room. Guests get a time limit to look at it and then it's taken out of the room. Then as the hostess, come back in and ask what the mom-to-be was wearing. My friend gave me a Tea and rented tables with umbrellas and everyone was served a formal tea, crusts cut off the sandwiches and all.

Okay, let's do this in 6 steps:
1) Guest list, you need to get this off of her.
2) Decorations, you can go with simple streamers and balloons, that'll be fine. You can jazz it up with Winnie the Pooh stuff if you want, since she obviously likes that. Be sure to get lots of napkins, glasses and plates (these could be themed as well)
3) Food! Much food (she's pregnant!) A cake is nice and can be themed as the party. Appetizers are good depending on the size of the party, you could have dips and breads and veggies and meat and cheese platter. Punch in a bowl is good - alcohol not good.
4) Games - the best part:
a) Can't say "baby" game - give everyone 3 necklaces (beads or a toy soother on a ribbon or something), instruct everyone that for the course of the evening/afternoon/morning they can not say a specific word (i.e. baby) whoever catches someone saying the word calls them on it and immediately takes one of their necklaces. The person at the end of the party with the most necklaces wins!
b) Measure the tummy, pass around a ball of yarn or string, everyone cuts off a length that they think will wrap once around the pregnant womans tummy. one by one each person gets a chance to see if theirs fits. The closest fitting string wins!
c) Memory. Gather baby-related things on a tray (i.e. baby shampoo, diaper, rubber ducky, soother, baby sock, band aid, toy, book, safety pin, Q-tip, baby food, bottle, etc, etc) Show everyone the tay for 5 minutes. Take away the tray and give the players 5 minutes to write down as many items as they can remember from the tray. The person with the longest list wins.
d) Name the baby songs (Can use different word) Everyone has a piece of paper and a pen, give the group 10 minutes to write as many song titles containing the word baby as they can. Longest list wins.
e) Baby picture game - get each guest to bring a baby pic of themselves to the shower. Attach all pics to a bulletin board and letter them a through z. Everyone gets a piece of paper and has to match the baby pic to the guest on it. At some point unveil the correct answers and see who recognized the most.
5) Favors and Prizes - Prizes do not need to be expensive, but indulgent is a good way to go - nice bubble bath, chocolates, lip balm, lotions, etc are good ways to go. Quality over quantity - I'd rather get a body shop lip balm than a pint of dollar store lotion.
A Favor bag can be really cute and provide the cherry on top for the party. A good idea is to go small, buy cute sized bags and decorate with a sticker - or use small chinese food cartons from Michaels or a paper store. Keep the bags and stickers within the theme/colours of the party. Add a little label to the handle saying "Jane Doe's baby shower June 24th, 2007" or something as keepsakes. Inside put little candies and a small photo frame, or a small candle and a small bubble bath or something along those lines.
6) AS THE PLANNER...
Try to have the guests arrive before the pregnant woman, even if it's not a suprise. Have a special seat saved for the guest - it sucks sitting in the far corner at your own party! The seat could even be specially decorated, choose wisely however, she is pregnant! Keep her hydrated - it's easy to get caught up in the excitement and forget to sip.
When she opens gifts help by making a list of all gifts and who they're from - or write it on the back of the gift card. Even better would be to have each guest address an envelope you give them upon arrival, then give her the envelopes and a set of thank you cards after the shower as a gift - her job would be that much easier.
Keep the room cool - pregnant ladies tend to get hot and you want her to be comfortable at her party.
So... I hope this all helps! Have fun!

for the diaper game, you can also use different foods to change it up, like chunky peanut butter, ranch, etc.
you can also do this game - have each guest guess the mother's belly size. use a roll of toilet paper, have each guest take some of the toilet paper, enough to where they think will find around the mother's belly. the winner is the person who guesses the exact (or comes the closest) size using the toilet paper - no excess, etc.
you can also do a baby food eating game. each player is timed on who can finish eating a jar of baby food the fastest. each player will be fed by someone else using a baby spoon...make sure the baby food is something funky, such as beef and peas, etc.
have fun!!!

i've got planned many infant showers and so far, the terrific adventure has continuously been finger meals. hen wings/arms, chex combination, chips, etc. nutrients flow over precise yet they take dissimilar artwork. in case you decide directly to flow the meal direction, i choose to propose something hassle-free like spaghetti and meat sauce (if youre not making plans on finding out to purchase it extremely is a various tale) and a tossed salad.

Chop up and melt half a candy bar in each of 6 diapers (so they're all different.) People have to pass the diapers around, sniff and taste the contents and guess which type of candy bar it is. The winner gets a prize.

you can make a "layered cake" out of rolled up diapers and ribbons as a centerpiece for the gift table and then give your sister the cake to keep.
