gargle with salt water for your throat, and take a hot shower, the steam should help with the congestion. See if your school has a student health service place, it is free for most undergrads and most colleges.

I prefer chiropractic treatment as opposed to medical treatment when I'm sick. I'm biased because I have a great chiropractor who works on me.

As for the throat and the nose, here's what you do. Drink 7 or 8 glasses of water (if your pee is not extremely clear, you are not drinking enough). That will help wipe out some of the toxins that the virus is causing. For your nose and thorat, you should try steam therapy. There are a couple of options.

OPTION 1: Steam Room. Sit in a steam room, bring lots of water with lemon.

OPTION 2: Shower. If you don't have a steam room, make one. Turn on the shower all the way hot. (DONT STAND IN THE SHOWER). Fill the closed room with steam and breath it in.

OPTION 3. I prefer this option. If you have a stove at home, this usually works. Fill a very large pot up with water. Add a fair amount of salt to it. Boil the water. once the water is boiling, reduce to a simmer. Breath in the steam (make sure the water is not boiling! Just a very low simmer so that you don't burn your face. Hold your face far enough away from the pot). Now, put a towel behind your head and drape it over the large pot. Make sure that NONE of the burner is exposed, so that you can't catch the small towel on fire. Make sure the towel does NOT come into contact with any burner or flame. Use common sense and extreme caution when doing this.

Also, Citrus Citrus CITRUS. I'm not talking gaterade, I'm not talking fake orange juice, I'm talking real good old fashioined orange juice no preservatives, no 'high fructose corn syrup' etc.

And finally - eliminate ALL SUGAR from your diet until this passes. Those bacteria / viruses live off of sugar. so don't feed them, starve them. That doesn't mean don't eat - and you can eat things with modest amounts of sugar in them. Stay away from Mountain Dew and candy! You get the idea.

Get a cup and some salt (from the dining room). Mix about 1/3 tsp of salt in warm-hot water. Gargle with the water several times, making sure it goes to the back of your throat. To relieve the stuffy nose. Stand near the shower and put it full on Hot. Inhale the shower steam and it probably will help to break up your congestion. Repeat all of these things several times a day. Go buy some 12 "musinex" caplets tomorrow, as well as some of that Cepacol throat spray. If you don't feel better by Friday, go to your college infirmary.

Gargle with salt water for the sore throat, for the stuffy sinuses, you can fix hot bowl of water, enough to make steam, put towel over bowl and then put your head under the bowl so you can absorb the steam, or you can get in a hot shower, that should open the sinuses up, also if you take your fingers, and pinch right between the eyes on your nose this opens them up also , also pressing on the head right above the eyebrows, closes to the nose. Good Luck!

For the nose that won't blow use some nasal spray. About 2 squirts each nostril. It will open you up in a matter of minutes! It has been a life saver for me!
Don't use too many squirts though or you will get a massive headache.....ummmm yeah...I did that!

Sore throat....you can try a honey and lemon mix. But the salt water gargle might help as well.

The steam from a hot shower will help with the congestion, and for the pain the advil along with ice should help. And drink some hot tea.

Go to the pharmacy tomorrow and get something with pseudophedrine in it, its behind the counter. Thats the best thing for nasal congestion. Some chloroseptic spray would probably be good for your throat.

Gargle with warm salt water for your throat. for your stuffy nose try to breathe in vapors from boiling water. Boil the water and put a towel over your head where it hangs down beside your face. This will trap the vapors better. If you don't have a stove. Try the shower. Hope this helps.

If you eat 3 - 5 raw pieces of garlic ( you have to chew it - you cant just swallow it) it will help clear up the congestion in the nose and throat. i usually take a bite of garlic and then a bite of food - a potato works great - hardly taste the garlic.

for a sore throat - mix some honey with some ginger powder. Take a tablespoon and it will soothe the throat. its good to make up a jar of this and keep for future use - because the ginger will ferment and be more effective. hope this helps

gargle with warm salt water to relieve the throat pain. Breathe in the steam from a container of very hot water, the steam will loosen the mucus in your nose and it will blow out.
