I would also like to know the local general sales tax rate for Texas.

Simple suggestion... look at a receipt from a local Wal-Mart. They print the tax rate on there. The state rate is 6.25%, so anything over that amount is the local rate.

The reason I suggest this is that local rates vary sometimes from county to county, in Texas.
