It is purely coincidental that the name Valium is similar to the herb Valerian.
Valium belongs in the Benzodiazepine class of drugs and is often used as a sleeping pill. Valerian, however, is a herb that is a safe, nonaddictive sleep aid that won't leave you feeling groggy in the morning.

Valium is a drug called Diazepam, and yes it can be addictive.
Valerian is an herb, used to treat insomnia or nerves, much like Valium. They are not derived from one another and the name is simply a coincidence.

No, valium is not a derivative of valarian. As far as it's addicive properties, I highly doubt it but, u could check with your local vitamin store.

No, it's not. It's concocted in a laboratory. The name is just a marketing name.
