Illegal drugs, prostitution, organ selling...These are all proscribe in most of the United States.
Yet...
Alcohol, working for wage, abortion...These are perfectly legal.
Does anyone else see an inconsistency? Should not we have the ability to do whatever we want with our bodies? Is it not our property? Should the government have the right to tell us what to do with our bodies?
Help me understand this idiocy.
*Keep in mind that freedom to deal with personal property should not also conflict with anyone else's property and right to live.*

To clear things up, I did not present whether or not I believe any of the examples are a personal or moral problem for me, I just used them as an illustration.
Also, to the STD prescence in prostitution, I posit that STDs are prominent with prostitutes BECAUSE it is legal to sell one's body for sex. It is just like any other business, the seller would provide as good a service as possible, in this case, it would be in the best economic interest for the woman/man to make sure they're clean. Think about it, would you want to go to a bordello known to employ prostitutes infested with AIDS?
A good example is in the few counties in Nevada where prostitution is legal. Of registered prostitutes that are active, 0% have STDs since they are required to have periodic checkups.
Also, if drugs were legalized, they would be open to regulation, which would make it a much less risky business while increasing competition.
