Seeings The Beatles broke up by the 70's I'd imagine you'ld get a failing grade doing a project on them for 70's music.
You should pick either Elton John or The Bee Gees,
both were HUGE in the 70's, no other artists could come close

The Beatles broke up in 1970, so they really aren't 70's music.
Try a band like Led Zeppelin.

To be frank, The Beatles were not a band anymore during the 70s. They were prominent during the 60s. But if I were you, I would stick with bands like Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, stuff like that. Other than that, The Beatles' own name came from John Lennon's notion that music has a "beat" to it (note the "beat" in "Beatles"). Also, controversy revolved around one such song "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds", which angered critics because of its probable reference to the drug, LSD. However, John Lennon stood with the fact that he was inspired to write the song after seeing a picture that his son, Sean, had drawn, calling it 'Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds'.

Michael Jackson outbid Paul McCartney for the rights of the Beatles songs, so if you hear their songs on TV, movies or commercials, that is because he allowed the songs to be played. Which I personally think is wrong that he took the rights from its owneer. but that's just me

On there recording of P.S. I love you Andy White played the drums and Ringo played on maraca. White also played on "Love Me Do " while Ringo just sat and watched.
