I have an occasional sharp pain in the left side of my chest. I also have acid reflux. I've been tested so many times for heart problems and the doctors have always taken it back to reflux. It's very frightening. I also have a lot of anxiety which I do have medication for. Nothing seems to help right now. Any advice?

It may be part of an anxiety attack. The first time I had one, I was convinced I was having a heart attack. Unfortunately, the more you worry about it, the worse the panic attack gets! You may want to talk to your doctor about your anxiety medication, and find out if increased panic attacks are a common side effect (sometimes they are!). Having your doctor switch a medication or change dosages can help. Also be sure to ask about other things you can do to relieve stress. Lots of physicians are open to alternative treatments these days. If yours isn't, try out things like yoga, meditation, or massage on your own and see if they make you feel better. Finding a hobby that keeps your mind occupied helps too. Things that are easy to pick up and work on are best; like coloring, needlework, crocheting, knitting, whittling, or beading. If you do it when you feel the anxiety coming on, it can help calm you down. Ultimately, keeping your stress levels down will help no matter what the cause of your pain is. Try keeping the anxiety under control, and if that doesn't help, and the reflux treatment isn't helping, don't be afraid to get a second opinion!

I don't recommend baking soda, in can really put your kidneys in a bad place, especially if you don't get enough water when you take it. It probably is reflux, but ask your doctor about anginal, (yes anginal, not vaginal :p) pain. Sometimes I get it too, especially when I'm stressed out. It feels like a muscle cramp, and kind of takes your breath away when you breathe deeply. It happens when your heart isn't getting enough oxygen saturations, which sounds incredibly serious, but it really isn't that horrible. Even though it hurts, the best thing is just to breathe through it. They do have medications for it, so make sure to ask your doctor.

I use to have acid reflux a long time ago. Try drinking a teaspoon of baking soda and half a cup of warm water. It may taste nasty but it works for me. It will make you burp a lot but that is normal.

i kno a lot of people who have this and same thing happened with the doctors. they pretty much go back to saying it's caused by stress, so i assume since you've had a lot of anxiety lately that could be the cause. usually my bf gets those pains when he gets stressed about our relationship

Indigestion - after eating is the toughest and lying down makes it even worse.
Change your diet. Lessen or delete all breads, fats, meats, dairy, sugars and add more vegetables, pure grains and drink lots of water. You'll sleep better too.
