Ok. So, I know that this may sound trivial and all, but it is important to me.
My best friend who really doesnt open up very much was crying on the phone with me today and was asking me for advice for this boy she just can't seem to get over. I've told her everything from the whole, "there are plenty of fish in the sea" thing to "he wasn't good enough for you" thing. Nothing helps. I think it is because he was the first guy that ever really gave her the time of day, and so she wants the attention back that he gave her.
I suggested that she go out and party with a bunch of us, you know flirt a little, and maybe if she sees how many guys actually are attracted to her that she will build more self esteem and FINALLY get over that loser. I dont know. Maybe she'll get over him if she gets a new bf. I don't know what to do/say! Please Help!

Just be there for her when she feels like talking about him, and really listen. It's good to her when knows someone is willing to listen to her babble on about some guy, and if you think she is over obsessing, then tell her. You have the right as her best friend to tell her that she has got to move on and that obsessing is getting her nowhere. It's called tough love

I think you are doing just the right thing. Just keep talking to her about how he isn't the only guy out there and that you are sure there will be others even better. I am sure, over time, she will come back to her normal self.
