how easy is it to find songs from Coldplay and stuff for the violin

actually, you can play any tune on the violin. It has a range of g below middle C to up as high of notes as you can learn to play.There are a little over 2 octaves in 1st position, you can learn other positions to get higher notes.
One advantage is you can easily carry it where ever you go.

No. I played both and the fact is that you have to be really good at the violin to play songs outside what is common since you have to make it sound so different at parts.

There are very few fast songs on the violin and that is why you'll hear Hoe Down from Rodeo by Copland, e.g., Bonaparte's Retreat of the "It's What's For Dinner" song on National Cattlemen's Beef Association commercial, more than any other fast violin piece... iow, good fast songs for the violin are rare.

I think what you really need to look at is that the piano is a perfect fit for solos and a violin is not. That is the main difference in my opinion.

yes it does. You can play anything . it will sound a bit odd but it can do it
