Actually welfare is a HUGE problem. We are handing out money to poor people. Some live off the money and it will never help them... What we are doing is giving a poor man bread and so he expects it. If we give them higher education and if inflation were to go back down there would be no problem. Although 5% of this country should be unemployed also causing poverty. It's the natural way of things.

First of all the Government does not have any money. They get 99% of it from us the working man and tax payer. You work so many hours a week to support these programs and people I think the first 7 days of the month go to pay your taxes etc.
It is now the "feel goods " who run things that think these things up and it has been badly abused. Welfare was started to help people who really needed food and shelter as they were temporarily displaced or had medical problems. Today we have a society of millions of people on welfare, because they have been taught it is easier to get free money, than trying to go to work. There are always exceptions -The truly needed... but the welfare rolls could be cut by 60% if the rules were for the needy and not the greedy. Truly hard up mother with kids. It is not meant for people to have kids so they can get welfare. There is more money to be had by being on welfare than taking a low paying job. So the sentiment is why bother. I say have some self respect and try and do something to better oneself.

It is true as far as theoritical concept in our constitution is concerned., but actually what welfare activities the government is taking for the poor man is a point of debate. In fact, if actually it would have been true than atleast there should have been some measurable reduction in poverty level in our country, which is not at all visible. Some half hearted attempts here and there are of course visible.
Therefore, your statement is theoretically true but practically false.

BUT GOVT IS NOT ALLOWED TO FUNCTION INDEPENDENTLY BY THE RICH, AND THE PREVILEGED. OTHERWISE GOVTS WILL DO MORE FOR THE POOR.
