"To Kill A Mockingbird" is about a woman who is living and learning about how life is ina certain time period. And, the character named Scout Finch is a white woman in a certain time period of when racism in this place called Maycomb County in the South is still going on. And, I'm sort of confused , because Scout Finch is the main character, and this is about her life, and when the teacher explained it to me, I understood, but now, I'm not so sure anymore.

Scout is a fictional character, completely the creation of Ms. Lee. And a brilliant creation at that ;-) But, no, the story is not biographical or auto-biographical. It certainly mirrors a lot of aspects of life in the South at the time but it is all fiction.

Scout is the main character but the main character doesn't have to be the author. It's not a memoir. It's a work of fiction which means that the author thought up everything about the book. Hans Christian Anderson wrote Cinderella. Cinderella is the main character of his imagination.
