this is called babbling and is the first step in learning to talk and communicate. It is adorable and also a good sign that your baby is developing normally.

The pre-language stage of learning to talk (but no doubt the child development texts have a textbook term for purposes of asking exam questions. If you are a student, look it up in a text or a glossary. If you are a parent, don't worry about it.)
