I think it kinda depends who your favorite character is. I love Daniel the most so season 6 wasn't the highest point. Overall, though, I think seasons 3, 4, and 5 were the best, particularly season 4 with Window of Opportunity, Beneath the Surface, Tangent, 2010, and Absolute Power. Season 8 has some great episodes as well (Avatar, Prometheus Unbound, and DEFINITELY the Reckoning pt1+2/Threads arc and Moebius pt 1+2) but only really in the second half of the season.
If these episodes don't attract you to the show I don't know what will. Meridian (season 5) is a classic....^_^

I actually didn't start watching until a few seasons ago. And then I wasn't watching in any type of order. Thank goodness for my hubby or I'd be lost in the plot line. I actually like the episodes from season 1 alot better after I had gotten a hang of what was going on. Try skipping around and sampling some episodes. Sci Fi cahnnel shows random episodes all the time.

well if you watch every one of them, I like the season with corvin nemic?, I think that was 6th.yes most people hated that season, but the stories where better, like they went to the planet that had repitle people, that had free some humans with Irish back ground, but the first two season set up the whole show, Yes they did redid a couple thngs later, season 4 or 5 might be a good place to start.

I would say that the 7th and 8th might be the best. but if you start there you will miss alot of back story that could be important.
Start in the third season it has a lot of good stories, and the actors are a lot more comfortable in their roles. Plus this way your familiar with the history when you get to the really good stuff.

the series really "jumped the shark" in the 7th season when Richard Dean Anderson couldn't decide if he still wanted to be in the series or not........so they wrote in a replacement, and then gave him a promotion and more or less gave him Gen. Hammond role......and then they started all that crap with the Ori in season 8.......and it just got stupidier from there. The First 6 seasons where the best......and then it started that eventual downward slide when Dean wanted out.
