You have to consider Dwight Freeney when talking about the best I had the opportunity to watch him several times making the best offensive tackles in the game look like high school freshman.
If you consider freak of nature as the better quality Julius Peppers would win when he wants to be he can be the best. However he doesnt play 100 percent all the time.
For DT I would take Tommie Harris because he made the Bears Defense what it was and without him they went from a great defense to an average one

Jason Taylor - the Defensive Player Of The Year - In addition to everything you already know about Jason Taylor, what you might not know is that he is tied for the all-time lead in Touchdown's by a defensive lineman with 7 in his career.
He has 5 fumble return TD's which is also tied for the all-time NFL lead.
Did I mention 106 career sacks, 6 Interceptions, and 36 forced fumbles.
Teams are going to hate facing Taylor and Joey Porter this season (and dont forget about Zach)

Well you have to look at both end and tackle and then you have to look at the 4-3 and 3-4 because most ends in a 3-4 could go to any team with a 4-3 defense and play tackle. for a 4-3 defensive end you go with Peppers, for a 4-3 tackle you go with Tommie Harris, for a 3-4 tackle you go with Casey Hampton or Vince Wilfork, then you go and have Jason Taylor who could be the most versatile player in a 3-4 defense anywhere then you go with Seymour who plays both end and tackle for the Pat's he is probably the the most versatile defensive lineman in the NFL today so I will go with Richard Seymour.

well since there's so many roles it's hard to chose (as DEs and DTs are different, and are different between 4-3 and 3-4) ---so I'll say the Pat's Richard Seymour because he can play both DT and 3-4 DE (many 3-4 DEs could, but he plays them both well --so well that in the pro-bowl (where only 4-3 is allowed) he plays DT)

Jared Allen is a sufferer of his own hype. hostile to really some the weakest O strains, he has run up some rather reliable numbers, yet there are a range of D linemen that are on an identical aspect or more suitable positive than he's. one which became finally known this year is Haloti Ngata of Baltimore.

jayson taylor hands down he hunts down and seeks out ball carriers like its his job...which it is. defensive player of the year last season if i remember and he isnt slowin down. i think he'll rack up more tackles and sacks this season with the addition of jerry porter and people may try to run away from porter right into taylor whos just everywhere on the field...hes lightening quick to.
