Although it looks like I'm being lazy, the best way to answer this is with a couple good references. So please take a minute to learn from these websites below.

I would personally recommend a professional if it seems like a tricky situation.

This may sound really weird but my grandpa did this last summer and it really worked. YOu take an old 2 litre coke bottle and cut the top of it off. THen turn take the top and place it upside down in the coke bottle. Pour a small amount of some sweet liquid in the bottle or put food in it. Then leave it outside where the wasps are and when they fly into the bottle they won't be able to get out and will drown in the liquid.

Go to Home Depot and ask about wasps in their Indoor Garden dept. They have a product that you set out and it catches the wasps by giving off a pheromone that the wasps find irresistable. They are "caught" in a container and drowned and you just throw it out. The directions probably tell you to keep it so many feet away....

Apparently, wasps don't like citrus. Buy some citrine candles from a hardware store and place them around the eating area, light them just before you bring the food out.

the best way is to find where their nest is. sometimes it's on a tree or on the side of your house (ie: under the roof). Last summer, I found out a couple wasps were starting to build a nest underneath a lawn chair. so you have to be very careful. then, just spray the nest with wasp spray.

I'd rather be stung by wasps , than that money maker online x.

I'd get a power shot pestiside, with some distance 15/ 20 ft.

Hose them down , get another can if needed.

Light a few scented candles and strategically place them around the eating area. They don't like the smell or the light.

Put some old jam pots or something similar sugar based.around your garden (eating area) and 3 quarter fill them with water, stand back and watch the magic. It won't totaly get rid of them, but it will keep them away from you while you dine.
