that somehow universal healthcare is a good idea? The gov. couldn't even keep the mold off the wall and the rats out of the rooms in a MILITARY HOSPITAL, but somehow we expect them to efficiently run healthcare for the whole nation? With taxpayer dollars? Sounds like a plan for disaster. Libs love to point out the mismanagement of Walter Reid, but also want the same gov to care for the general populace. You can't have both. And don't give me any B.S. about "if there was a Dem in the office, it would be different." Government management is always wasteful.

Steddy, thats exactly the point I was getting at, that gov management is never good and a theft of personal choice and freedom, since it uses our tax dollars. Kudos!

Walter Reid isn't the only one in bad shape. My grandfather was in three before he passed, and they were all substandard - and they were in various states, in "good" areas. Part of the problem is the past cutting of funds for our veterans - I won't point out who cut those funds, its a moot point now.

I personally don't think its a matter of how a universal health system would be run - it shouldn't be done at all. It teeters on that fine gray line to socialism. I'd rather have doctors competing for business (keeping up with cutting edge procedures, competitive facilities, bedside manner, etc.) than have to fit to the cookie cutter guidelines and red tape that a universal system would end up becoming.

I'm not against all American citizens having access to quality health, but I don't think a universal plan is the way to go. I'm always open to ideas...

Edit: Right back at you, Tucson!

If you think health care is bad now if we get national health care it will 100 times worse. America has the best health care in the world. The cost of health care and the reimbursement from the government programs we have now. With health care in the shape it is now and the decreasing payments to doctors decreasing the best and the brightest are not going into health care.We can only get foreigner doctors in some areas that can't even speak English we can understand. The most money is spent in the last six months of a persons life. We need to understand the aging process and let nature take it's course. Also people need to be responsible for their own health care. There are millions of dollars spent on patients that refuse to follow what the doctors instructs. There is plenty of money. It is mismanaged. If we do get national health care there will be health care rationing.God Help Us All.

one building is bad.... all business, hospitals and all have good reports and bad. but it is ALL americans that need to have availablity to good health care. and although i thank every soldier. all are americans... i know of two that lost their live in iraq.... and i am thankful and sorry

but health care like everything.... needs respect.....
we can't take care of our hospital or health because all our docotrs worry about is being sued. if they say oh....this or that and make a small error.... i worked in a health facility and the amount of claims and all were stupid..

the whole nation has to start taking it that all of us do what we can and lets first get the lawyers out of the health care business. the school system.. they get sued too.

oh and the food industry... oh... you get hot coffee and are too dumb to realize that it might be hot.... so nw we have to put that on the cup... and have a bit check wrote. and oh we are fat... so lets blame others....

so with health facilities of all kind, businesses of all kind....
lets get back to basics.... taking a bit of reposnbility for yourself

that's like saying if I can find one hospital out there that is run by a private company... and it's got many of those same things... that private companies can't possibly take care of healthcare and that example proves it... and I would be willing to bet, there are more than a few in bad neighborhoods...

I mean you could look at the number of malpractice suits and be amazed at the incompetence of many private practices...

management of any type is always wasteful... some horribly, remember enron?

the free market isn't some magical healing cure for everything... if it was, there wouldn't be a health care crisis now...
