check out a great detroit band called Blanche....
they are alt country. kind of hank williams sr meets wilco
a great singer songwriter i love is Bonnie Prince Billy
his album "i see a darkness" is perfect. johnny cash covered the title song on American III. Bonnie (will oldham) sang backup
for heavier music check out The Hard Lessons. they just released a 3 song EP of neil young covers. it kicks butt. otherwise they have another 5 song EP out of original stuff that tears it up as well. they are so much better live than on record though.

Saliva, Placebo, Motorhead, nightwish (very different), massive attack (they sound like everything, Get the Collected CD), oh you know whats good, it's a rap song, but you have to hear it, everyone does. It's Immortal Technique's 'Dance With The Devil' like one of the best songs ever, oh and u might like Drop Kick Murphys
