This is a strange question, but it really intriqued me. After thinking for a minute, here is my answer. It may teach the group being hated to be more resiliant. Think about it, groups that have been persecuted, usually tend to be more resiliant. It is as if they have seen the worse and can handle what life dishes out. Strange question, strange answer.

Well, it is good thinking skill to choose the people you like and don't like, and the ones you feel neutral about.
By hating someone you naturally stay away from them, and they might be potential for harm. They could lead you to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
