the reason i believe its over heating is because ...first of all the cooling fans did come on when the temp. got to 220F ...now they wont ..then again, once it starts to get to that point, it starts spitting up the coolant from the reserve tank. my car has to be filled through the reserve tank. i have replaced hoses, did 2 flushes. plus have put on two new thermostates. i can tell the thermostate works cause the bottom hose stays cool the when the car reaches about 200 or so you can tell that the bottom hose has released the cool water to circulate. as far as the water pump, i was told if you squeeze the bottom hose then let go and you feel the water move back and fordwarth, that its okay....so could someone tell me what could be the problem!!!!

there wasnt a spring to this hose for this car, if there was i would have put it on. i was told that at about 160F that the cooling fans should kick on, and they dont. that it shouldnt reach the point of 220F before it does. so i ahve been looking for the cooling fan relay which is by the firewall somewhere, or possible in the dash. i have looked and looked and i cant find it. that is the last thing i can do they will help the problem. but if you say there should be a spring in the bottom hose, i would check from the part store...a.s.a.p...i have changed everything and done everything except electrical, and i just want to resolve this so i dont blow my engine, or anything else to happen being i am a single mother and have no one here that i can rely on, thats why i am here!! thanks

i own a repair shop, and you need to check the fuses for the fan relays on it,when they go bad it don't allow the fans to come on,also the relay its self may be bad,for it,this gets in to an electrical issue ,and id let a good mechanic look at it,he can repair it a lot faster and will have the right tools to do this with, and he probably can go right to the problem, most of the time we mechanics have done this so much, that we can usually find whats wrong with one in very little time, especially a cooling fan problem, good luck,i hope this help.s

First off, if the fan comes on with the AC, the relay is working. The fan comes on at a fairly high temparound 225 deg F. Before you go further, may I ask what makes you say it's overheating?

could be your Fan Relay Switch or the Fan Motor is shot

try this take a wire from the batt to the fan motors wires just to see if the fan motor works that or you might have a short

good luck
hope this helps

You changed the bottom hose, didn't you? and forgot to put the spring in, causing it to collapse from pump suction when the engine gets hot.
