I suspect that there will be many who look at this question and go down the at conception route or religious belief route but I think you mean something a bit more philosophical like life begins at forty or some such. I picture you sitting down, bored to tears and thinking does it ever get better - Well my answer is NO you are going to be bored for the next 60 - 70 years or whatever - unless you actually find youself something meaningful to do instead of banging your keyboard!

Being life -not only human-, is mainly a manifestation of genetic capacities to expand and reproduce its codes. For me life begins every time that process is activated. A seed buried in the earth waiting for enough water to manifest itself, a fertilised female cell begins his journey to meet the water, the air, the darkness or the sun, whatever.. Life is basically a manifestation and it begins when any cell with reproductive capacities starts to walk the path that can conduce it to his vital manifestation. Thanks for your question and excuse my English.

Everyone's life is a picture,
Painted by only one person,
Life itself.
The picture shows everything you're doing,
And everything you have done.
But sometimes, Life gets tired.
And doesn't want to paint a picture.
So, Life sends problems to stop you,
If you give up, your picture is finished.
If you keep going, so does your picture.
So the question is:
How soon do you want to see your picture?
Do you want to see it now?
When it could be so much more?
Or later, when there's so much more than before?
It's your choice,
I'll keep going because my life is only begining I'm 40 today

At conception. If "it" were just a "mass of cells" rather than a life, people wouldn't get excited when they learned that they or someone they knew was pregnant. You rarely hear a woman saying, "I just found out that I have a mass of cells growing in me. In 9 months it'll be a baby and then I'll get excited about it" and you rarely hear friends and family say, "It's just a mass of cells. Let's not get too excited about it just yet." It is what it is from its start to its finish. You never hear someone say, "It's just a seed, not a flower." And yet people plant seeds with the knowledge and understanding that, with time and care, they will have a beautiful garden.
