We got tire of fighting each other! Besides the US didn't like us setting fire to the White House!

There was an attempt to invade the Canadian territories during the Revolutionary War. Two forces, one led by Ethan Allen and one by Benedict Arnold joined together and marched through the northern wilderness and attacked British forts. They were defeated however and the extremely dire conditions facing the Revolutionary Army during most of the rest of the war kept attentions more focused in the thirteen colonies.

The US did in fact attempt an invasion of Canada. But were repulsed at Montreal. The largely French population wanted no part of joining the U.S.

Why do people think our prime objective is to take over the world?

200 years ago we had plenty of other things on our plate. Canada is benign and is a friend to our country, so we get much of the benefits without a lot of the hassle.

Because we threw our best generals against them. The English had the advantage with shorter supply lines and more soldiers. We tried. We lost. Horatio Gates' biography tells the whole story.

We couldn't. We simply did not have the man-power or the military power to actually take it. We tried, but failed.
