Shocked is the first word that comes to mind. I was a very studious child and read and studied a lot. I dreamt of becoming a scientist or bank manager.......now I am a well tattoed, long haired loser.

Very much the same person I was many years ago . Of course , I have become more mature, and I am now an adult, but the person I was as a child is still very recognisable ; i.e the high ideals, standards, aspirations have remained , what I believe in have remained firm. Ideas which were with me from my youth, have taken root, and have moulded me into the adult version of my-self. Congratulations, I can congratulate my-self , for having passed through the traumatic teenage years, without disaster. I have made it into adulthood, passing the appropriate exams and landing my-self a career that I am pleased with. I would say, I have done a good job, properly performed.

i be 40 in a few days and my wife says that i am still a child when it comes to looking at t.v. i finish with a poem :My senses all are backwards
and it really makes me wonder
if on the day that I was born
somebody made a blunder.

For, strange but true, my senses
all got totally reversed.
Now everything I like the best
is what you'd call the worst.

I only like the smell of things
that frighten other noses.
I love the odor of a skunk.
I hate the smell of roses.

I only like the taste of foods
that cause most folks to shiver.
I hate the taste of chocolate.
I'm crazy over liver.

I'm not too fond of music
but there's simply no denying
I like the sound of honking horns
and little babies crying.

I hate the feel of silky, velvet
softness on my skin.
I much prefer the way it feels
when sitting on a pin.

I hate the look of anything
that's really cute and snuggly.
The things I think are pretty
are what most consider ugly.

So let me tell you one more thing
before I have to go:
I think YOU are the most attractive
person that I know

One of the better questions I have seen. I hadn't thought about that. The child I was wouldn't be real happy with what I've become, some of the 'safe' decisions I made, some of the stupid mistakes I made. The challenges I passed for the easy road. I think he would have been disappointed that I didn't become the Park Ranger I wanted to be out of high school, or that I hadn't stayed in the Army or that I didn't join the CIA when offered afterwards. He would have been happy with my sons, he would have had a lot of fun with them.

I want to say she would be happy with how I have handled the things life has thrown at me so far. I only just turned 20 a few weeks ago, but I've been through some... stuff... with my old school, personal life, and with my family.

Over all, thinking on what I have done, what I am, and who I'm on my way to becoming, current-me is pretty happy and maybe a little proud of myself. I think child-me would be happy, too.

She would be disappointed with my physical appearance, though.

In some ways disappointed, in some ways amazed.
As a child I wanted to be an astronaut, then a famous scientist, then a rock star, then I wanted to work for the FBI.
I'm not any of these things, (unless my band makes it big!lol),
But I've seen more things than I even thought existed and experienced the complexities of emotion that are not even known to a child.
So I guess she's happy with her lot :>)

if im totally honest i think they would be very happy with what they see. i still think and act the same as when i was a child! not in the immature way your probably thinking but completly care free and following my instincts. i think if you do this (as most children seem to do) later on in life you seem to regret less. i know i do. i have been through some different stages in my life in which i have experimented with different ways of living. including; the student life without actually being a student-drugs partys frequent random sex etc. the buisness life of 9 to 5, big pay checks and keeping up with the jone's routine. the travellers life of different countrys and adventures every week.
i just turned 24 so i still have a lot of my life ahead of me (i hope) and so who knows what else it will bring. but i keep listening to the child within and when he says "your not happy" i change things around me and my ways to find my new way in life. at the minute im a teacher working in impoverished parts of china for free and am following my religion closely and the child back then would be amazed at this but would probably say " if it makes you happy, do it!" and then crash his bike a tree for fun! :D

All the great things I was to do & ambitions to make reality as a child, had now become just getting through the day the best I could! The child-me wouldn't have believed possible.

Nice question! The child I was, never thought about growing up, so she wouldn't be surprised! However, the young adult I was might be surprised at how much more tactful I am now! LOL Probably from hangin out with all those Brits. haha

Well when I was younger of course the big thing was that I would never be like my parents or punish my kids the same way. It turns out that now I'm older and I realize that my parents were the way they were for very good reasons. I find myself trying my best to raise my kids just like my parents raised me. I feel they did a great job.
