A 16 year old is charged with lewd and lecivious conduct with a girl who called him, asked him to come to her house, her "myspace" said she was 16, she turned out to be 14 at the time. Ten months later he is charged, the juvenile courts say they don't have the resources to handle it and he is now going to be tried as adult with the maximum charge of life in prison facing him. Any suggestions on who to contact for help? Thanks!

If what your saying is exavtky how it happened then no I think that this is unfair.....this person needs to get an attorney~! If the "boy" 16 and even if she was 16 or 14,it is not like she was a minor and "the boy" was a adult~! I think that maybe her parents have something to do with this.....I would tell him to save anything that he has from when he had any contact with her~! Emails, anything~!~!

Bottom line: You need to hire a superior criminal defense attorney, no matter the cost. Otherwise, the 16-year-old boy could end up in jail for a long, long time. He still might end up in jail, even with the best lawyer in the world, but that lawyer could give him every possible chance of getting a better result.

Second bottom line: Parents, teach your teenagers about the huge consequences of sexual activity, both in general and with anyone of a different age (even a small age difference, like two years). Life is an awfully extreme penalty, and I think it may be a scare tactic by the prosecution, unless there's more to the story, but everything could have been avoided with more careful "home training."

Yes. At age 16, He knows he is not supposed to be doing 14 year old girls. He also knows having sex with a minor can result in stat. rape charges or some other charge.

SOrry for him. Adult charges are fine with me

I read the question. 16 yo charged with lewd and lecivious conduct with a minor child, age 14. She lied about her age. Juvie wont handle the case. Being tried as an adult. I get it.

Here is the thing. There are convicted child molesters walking around my house, your house...some of them with multiple offenses. What would make you think that this kid will get life? I know it is the maximum sentence, but so what?

If I bought a asset - lets say a honda 4 wheeler, and was lied to about it being stolen, and had no bill of sale, would I still be charged with possession of stolen property?

However, at age 16, a boy knows what statutory rape is. Any 16 year old horn-dog that says they don't is lying through their teeth. So, in light of both of those two points, my position does not change.

That crime is statutory and the age difference is an element of the crime itself. And such a thing cannot be overlooked because of crowded court dockets. Furthermore, in no case could someone face life in prison for that crime, not even in Alabama. Call a lawyer.

particularly stressful to declare... i'm approved to hold a pistol - and it particularly is criminal in my state to hold a hid weapon different than on the city (in spite of the reality that there is cases once you are able to) without a license - and that i don't think of we've any much less crime. the priority with crime is - you nearly in no way see it coming. some little jerk pulls a pistol on you - and it is not considerable whether you're wearing a gun - in case you are not getting yours out in time, you're toast besides. it particularly is a tricky question. i understand that once you sense the burden of that pistol under your arm, it makes you sense powerful in charge because of the fact in case you have been ever to break the regulation collectively as wearing a gun, they had crucify you!

There has to be more to this story if he is facing life. There is no state in the country where it is illegal for a 16 year old to be with a 14 year old, unless she is claiming rape.

if 18 is the title they give to "legal" adults then unless it is a vicious crime i don't think he should be charged as an adult until he is considered an adult by the rest of the world

I think what they did is consensual. Teenagers have sex. Its a fact. My grandmother was having sex with my grandfather when she was 15. That was in the 1950's. He shouldn't be charged with anything. If the parents of the girl don't like it they should punish her and keep the two away from each other.
