As you probably know, Clarksville is a small community that was founded by freed slaves on the outskirts of Austin after the Civil War. Clarksville is alive and well. Investors continue to buy old smaller homes and to update, renovate and add-on to them. Property prices have gone up alot, because of this activity. Tear-downs are going for 350K. There have been a few small condo projects, but, thankfully those are hard to get done, since it is a historical area. The citizens in the area are very active in trying to preserve the character of the neighborhood. There have been several new businesses open on West Lynn, a couple of restaurants, a coffee shop and some small retail shops. Other than the fact that there are fewer run-down homes in the area, it is much the same as when you left. Definitely one of Austin's coolest neighborhoods.
