I've always heard snowboarding is easier.

In my experience, I felt like I learned quicker on a snowboard.

Find more discussion, information, articles, tips, drills, etc on snowboarding and skiing at http://www.active.com and http://active.typepad.com/teamsports

First, I should let you know that I have never snowboarded. I ski (alpine and telemark) and most of my friends ski or snowboard. From what they have told me, snowboarding is easier to pick up. You will get pretty beat up but after three solid days you will be doing ok. Your overall ability will depend on your level of athleticism, perseverance, and patience. I believe anyone can do anything as long as they try and power through the hard parts.

Bottom line - there is nothing better than spending a day outside in the sun and snow. Good for the body and good for the soul. Good luck.

Skiing defienetly!!! Its a lot easier because you have 2 skis instead of just one solid thing your feet are strapped on (snowboard). Its a lot easier to balance on skies when standing. Also you dont need to remove half of your bindings when loading onto a lift! However, skiing is a lot more versatile and complicated than snowboarding. But I would definetly suggest starting with skiing, than go to snowboarding!

If you want to have fun go skiing but if you want to take time learning and falling do snowboarding. I went on a ski trip and the Skiiers had more fun and did it longer than the snow boarders. If you pick snow boarding make sure you wear a bib. ( a skiing equipment that helps in falls. I should know i went and got snow burn so badly since i fell and slid down the hill without protective clothing.)

In my experience, i believe skiing is a little easier to pick up on than snowboarding, but snowboarding is way more fun, athletic, and competitive. Overall, i'd pick snowboarding.

I have skied all my life and I always love it. I've never tried snowboarding before, but many of my friends have. They say its much harder. I would eventually like to try snowboarding, but skiing is just so much fun :)

I would definitely suggest that you start off with skiing. Using poles will help you to keep your balance.

Good luck!

Skiboarding will be easier for most people than either conventional skiing or snowboarding. If you already know how to skate (inline or ice), then you already know how to use skiboards. Even if you don't know how to skate, skiboarding will probably come easy (most people don't need lessons). Some arrogant fools think skiboarding is lame because it is so much easier than skiing or snowboarding; however, ask yourself: "do I want to spend most of my time learning a set of techniques that will take years to master, or do I want to start enjoying the mountain now, using something that feels very intuitive and natural". If your choice is the latter, then skiboarding is for you. Skiboarding is for people who want to have pure fun on the mountain, not for people wanting to stroke their egos and feel superior to others because they mastered some difficult technique.
