He impacted Hollywood by not being afraid to follow his own feelings, and heart. He impacted society by showing he had his own personal issues and that he was not above apologizing or making mistakes. He is a man of courage.

He said things that most people are afraid to say. He said them eventhough he knew there would be some black-balling. Unfortunatley he's made some terrible personal choices with alcohol, but aside from that he is a man of passion and conviction for what he believes in.
