Im a chick and to a certian extent i can agree with u. Yea personality wise I do think a lot of girls are fake which is why most of my friends are guys. But when a girl does her hair a differnt color she is just trying to look nice. In our minds its not being fake its trying something different. Girls like to experiment with their look and society has a lot to do with it. Society respects women who are beautiful and takes care of herself whether its doin her nails or getting her hair done. Women are meant to be beautiful according to society. I dont agree wit it but thats jus the way it is. Before I was mostly a natural girl but then this one guy asked me why i nveer got my hair done and why i never got my nails done. As soon as he said this felt horrible.I felt ugly, and this prompted me to make a change and tha is why i do my hair and nails now. Yes a male made me change. Now I love to look good I actually have more confidence now than i ever did. So it wasnt such a bad thing. Well there are still girls that go overboard wit the makeup but me, i try to keept it as natural as possible. So yea its a girls personality that makes her fake, not the way she looks! Hope that answers ur question.

Well, a little make-up is all right, but unfortunately, the media and American culture demand perfection. Woman in general (please forgive me, but I'm not trying to stereotype) care about looks more than men. Society makes them that way. They see their mom putting on lipstick and their friends using eyeliner so they decide its whats expected of them. Men also do feel this way if you really think about it. Don't you feel a bit insecure with a big red pimple right on your nose? I bet you do. No one is perfect by society's standards. Society just gives women a socially acceptable way to cover it up. Men don't have that option (well, some wear makeup, but they aren't considered normal, are they?)

Because it's fun. It's fun to do your hair and makeup and FEEL PRETTY. When I buy a new outfit, and I feel prettier than normal, my whole day goes better because I have that confidence. Men don't do that, but they sure do other things. I can't count the huge amount of men that tan, get their hair cut, colored, lift weights so they can get toned... just because it makes them feel more attactive, and confident.
And don't tell me that you'd take a second look at the girl walking down the street with acne-filled, blotchy face, plain, straight hair... You'd be too busy staring at the girl who is looking, and feeling beautiful.

"Why are GUYS so generalizing?"
Not all girls are "so artificial" and not all guys generalize. So it is not fair when you call every single girl artificial.
Not all girls have fake lashes, or hair, or eye color.
I know quite a few straight men that wash their faces b/c they dont want oil all over them.
I also know gay men who dont put on make up or fake eye-lashes
Not all guys look at inner beauty like you do. Before you can read a book, you see it's cover, and like it or not, you do make a judgement, even if you try not too. So it's good to make a good impression.

It's partly the "flowers and the bees" stuff in which females of a species have behaviors related to "attraction" of males. In some species, the male demonstrates the "attraction" behaviors. It's also partly due to consumerism and the ton of negative messaging that females are exposed to that is designed to make them feel bad about themselves unless they buy something. Barbi dolls and anorexia/bulimia are a part of that "industry". And, it's also partly due to how males respond to "plain" females" versus "highly groomed" females. Men look at girls with big fake boobs and ignore the natural girls in the room. Men look at and fawn over the girls with stylish, sexy, tight fighting jeans on and ignore, or, ridicule, the girls with more comfortable clothes on. Girls have strong hormonal urges to mate and breed, and they feel compelled to compete for men in these artificial ways. How many guys do you know who are beating down the door of the smartest female student in your school, or, when you went to school? The cheerleaders with their fake noses and boobs and eyelashes get the dates. How many guys know the top three GPA's among the girls in their school? Probably not as many guys who know the three girls in their school with the biggest bra size.

WOW....
Umm are you married cuz thats not something you wanna say something to her or a girlfriend or any friend that is a girl that you want to keep as a friend...
Anyway...
Because we care about how we present ourselves to the world... and most guys like when girls aren't pimply greasy awfully dressed girls...
That seems like a pretty good reason to me...
And because society today is largely based on looks. People won't talk to you if don't look a certain way. They only get to know your inner beauty if they talk to you. [[Which they won't if you don't look a little bit presentable!!]]

And let me guess... You just wear pajamas all day.
Do you shave? Do you comb your hair? Do you buy clothes for any motive whatsoever besides what's the cheapest track suit you can find at the Salvation Army? Because if you do any of these things, hey guess what... You're doing what "girls" do.
Oh and look, you went out of your way to change the default avatar into one of a guy in cowboy clothes... I see you're using visual imagery to try to convey something about yourself to others... How artificial.

That is a very vast generalization. But, it is true that many women feel preassured into false "perfection", the Barbie doll stereotype, by the Media, and Men. We would love not to have to worry about our appearance, but the mandatory "Beauty" has been thrown at us from all angles, shattering many girl's self esteem.

because it been that way for a million years. it's passed on from mother to daughter. you see here in America we have TV and magazines that tell women they are fat and ugly. so they go out and buy all of these products to make them think they are better. when they should rely on their inner beauty. then again most men like to see women all dressed up and in make up. it's society.
