I have this friend who just turned 18 in January. Her mom is collecting food stamps in her name, her sons name and my friends name. They live with with her husband but she says they live somewhere else in order to collect foodstamps because her husband makes too much money. 20 dollars an hour to be exact! But he won't buy food or anything. Well my friend don't get any food out of the food stamps, cuz they buy food for them only. Her brother is 22 in May and he gets a little money. Well my friend gets SSI and they had to re-evaluate her, she had nothing to do with it, as her mom does things with out her. They didn't even ask to see her, which I thought was awkward. Anyways she gets it again {she only been without it for 2 months} and her mother took all the money and lied to her saying she didn't get anything! Can her mother get reported for this since she is 18 now? She never got anything with her SSI money before she was 18 but now she wants to move out because of the things going on

She just doesn't know what to do. Her boyfriend's mother brings her over food! I feel so bad for her, but I can't really help her! Is there anything she can do to get out of this mess?!

Oh and may I add that she quit school at 17 because they kept failing her for no reasons. She has mental problems that started because of the school she went to. The school picked on her and didn't want anything to do with her because she has epilepsy. In order to get her GED, she needs a car, and she just can't get her SSI cuz her mom keeps it from her! She is just in a huge mess!

Well it's not my friend. My friend does need her SSI, and has it for good reasons. She needs it when she moves out because she has so many problems. Her mother and father and brother are all the ignorant ones. I only feel bad for my friend, I hate her parents.

Even if she lived in that house long enough to find a place of her own, then she could get her whole check? Well her mother told her that she gets half the check at least but she is lying, she only gets a quarter of it. She won't give her anything anyways. She can't get food stamps until she is 22 unless the other person is claiming her on them if she is living with someone.

Her mother is a criminal robbing the states welfare system and the Federal SS administration. I f she gets caught she can face stiff penalties that may include a lengthy time in prison. Your friend has two choices she can turn her mother in or let her mother do herself in. Let me explain:
Your friend is 18, she can go to her local welfare office and tell them she no longer resides with her mother and would like to apply for benefits on her own behalf.
She should also contact the SS Administration and do the same.
Her mother will no longer receive benefits for your friend. If her mother continues to try and claim your friend she will get caught and do herself in.
Her mother is committing big time fraud, she is leaching off the system. If your friends mother is having problems with her spouse and he refuses to support her or her children, it does not give her a justifiable reason to perform a criminal act. She is just a lazy good for nothing criminal Looking for the "easy way". She deserves to get caught. Our tax dollars pay her benefits, how dare she defraud us! Your friend should turn her in!

Edit:
She can get food stamps at the age of 18, because she has a disability. Just tell her to go down to her welfare office and explain the situation herself. She can get her own food stamps even while living under her mothers roof, all she has do to is state she is not being feed by other household members, and she must provide her own meals. If she is too afraid she will be disloyal to her mom for turning her in, she needs to take a cold hard look at the problem her mother has created for her. I f her mother doesn't care about the needs of her child, then why should the child feel so compelled to protect her mother. She needs to look out for herself because she knows her mother is just robbing her of her benefits. Tell your friend to stand up and defend herself, else her mother will continue to do this to her.

Also tell your friend to quit listening to her mothers lies. Her mother is lying to her to protect her own interests in greed. Also tell your friend to find out the truth herself, and then she too will know her mom is full of cr*p!

turn her in for welfare fraud.then she wont get anything and if the Lady's husband is like that maybe she should leave him.and you're friend ss check should come in her name so she should be the only one to cash it and if not have her call the ss office and talk to them about it so that it does come in her name.and for before she was 18 her mother would of been the one who got her check.
