I am a student taking Digital Photography and would greatly appreciate some advice. For Me...I find Mac's not as user friendly as PC's. I'm not trying to ruffle any feathers...I know there supposed to be better and all...but switching from one to the other gets a bit annoying for me. This is not my question. Keeping in mind that I prefer PC's...what should I be looking for in a new laptop? I like the idea of being able to check your images on-site to ensure you've got what you need. Burning the images to DVD is also a bonus to free up my memory cards but, I also need enough memory to do the odd Photoshop retouch as needed. I know Photoshop uses allot of memory.

Well...what do you think? I'm all ears--so to speak.

If your going to buy a laptop with those requirements, I would look for a laptop with a screen 15.4" - 17", 1GB (1024MB) or RAM, you don't need too fast of a processor, 120-160GB hard drive that's RAID configurable (meaning you have two drives that write the same thing to both drives, in case one fails you have a backup), and an 8x DVD burner that does all formats. Oh, and if you can, get Windows XP. I know Vista may be tempting, but I have a friend who works for Geek Squad and he says he gets more people in there daily with Vista problems than the number of OS's they sell.

i'm a expert and that i will respectfully disagree with the remark concerning to macs. on an analogous time as Apple makes some astounding stuff, there is extra to contemplate, quite whilst you're working a enterprise. Your in all probability positive with the two a Mac or pc (i take advantage of a pc) yet i think of there are some wide-unfold objectives you decide directly to stick to: -- Get as lots difficultchronic area as you are able to handle to pay for - even although you should use exterior drives, image processing demands various difficult disk area for issues like scratch disks and storing photos. A 250 gig difficultchronic or extra would be effective -- Max out on RAM. 2 gigs a minimum of. in case you decrease corners here, you will remorseful approximately it ever time you artwork on a image. -- USB and firewire ports are additionally significant. regardless of if including an externalchronic or hooking up your digicam (as an occasion, my EOS 1D MK a million must be tethered to the pc if i choose to alter a number of the settings) -- A DVD and CD burner is often a helpful to have merchandise. You by no potential be attentive to once you will intend to make a CD, DVD or use them for backup. There are laptops which will do all the above. once you are going to apply it on the line, you will additionally choose to get one that is extra rugged (my determination here may be the suggestions from Lenovo - the former IBM pc corporation - that are equipped like tanks). based on your funds, decide for the max RAM and HD and then fill in the different stuff around there. additionally undergo in suggestions to funds for application (between photoshop CS and upload ins, you are able to truly spend 2K on my own on application). sturdy success!
