We attach pics to personal ads so why not job applications and resumes? Would it be better or worse?

As sad as this is to say, too many people "judge a book by it's cover", so attaching a photo (unless you look really smart or qualified...but who's the judge?) isn't a good idea. Even if it's not intentional, people develop ideas based on a person's look. Why try to test the odds? Besides, in a personal ad your looks are relevant. In a job interview, unless you're sending in a resume for modeling or acting, your looks are NOT relevant to the job.

In some countries this is acceptable, however, I believe that your resume should be without pictures for the obvious. You are looking for a job and a picture can be a distraction. Let's be honest, if you have two people with the same qualifications and one is good looking and the other isn't, which one would you pick? Not fair. Remember: looks can be deceiving too. If you have the whole package great! but you can also have a very impressive picture and resume and be a complete air head.

A picture would prematurely label the applicant. For example, an older person and a younger person may each apply for a job. Having a picture may give one an advantage over the other without them being able to show what they take to the table at an interview. The purpose of the resume is to get the interview.

When anyone submits a job application or a resume, that person becomes a candidate based on the qualifications and/or experience not on the looks. Looks don't got tied to intelligence, ability, or skills.
In a personal ad, there is nothing professional attached to it, hence they have photos for friends or to impress someone else.

All he wants from you is pictures, no relationship, it's as simple as that. But sexy pictures can end up posted on the Internet or passed around, so don't do it, remember you have broken up. He in no way said he wanted to get back with you, you seem to desperately want to connect this request to a relationship request. It's no more than wanting pictures to show around.

I think it would be in some cases illegal, because a job offer should be based on your qualifications, not your looks. You aren't supposed to mention anything in your resume that might give out your race, ethnicity, religion, etc. because of Equal Opportunity.

I have found when you get older it goes against you. Also lot of people leave their birth dates off.because of the same reason. It may not work in all cases it does in the majority.Lot of high school and college grads do.When you send out a lot of resumes it is costly.

Basically because there are few jobs where what you look like makes a difference in your ability to do the job.

Some people would use photos to treat people unfairly, especially bigots. What a person looks like should not matter for most jobs.

My mommy made my resume with picture...
I used mine instead.
It's a white thing.
I didn't want to be hired for my looks...
Or any illegal hiring practices.
They're not even supposed to ask about your family status.

Because you should not be hired for a job based on looks. I can just see all of the Equal Opportunity lawsuits being filed now!
