I'm sorry to say, but there is a possibility that your female is already pregnant. Males are sexually mature at three weeks old. Females at four weeks. I suggest you separate them as soon as possible, and find a reputable exotics vet to neuter your male. If you neuter him they may be housed together safely.

As for your female, keep an eye on her for about a month. If she is already pregnant her belly will start to get large. Gestation is from 59 to 73 days. If you suspect she is pregnant, take her to an experienced exotics vet, to make sure she is doing okay and for advice. Please keep in mind that if anything goes wrong you may have to consider a cesarean section.

Please remember that sows have a 20% chance of dying with every pregnancy. Babies are born large, fully furred, eyes and ears open and ready to run. If she has any male babies, they must be removed when they are three weeks old.

If you put a male and female guinea pig together, you WILL have baby guinea pigs. Definitely not a good idea, since there are many piggies out there already who don't have good homes.

You can neuter your male piggy if you insist on keeping them together. Talk to your vet about the appropriate age to do the surgery (4-5 months) and make sure your vet is aware of the proper anaesthetic to use on guinea pigs. Definitely find a vet with experience and do not go for the cheapest vet you can find or your pig will suffer!

Unfortunately, she is probably already pregnant...

If you don't want the female getting pregnant, you must keep them in a separate cage. A month old is too young to breed, she could get pregnant but would have problems. Also if you buy another male you can't keep them together if there is a female around or they will fight. Good luck.

if she was not able to have babies yet he would not be sexually atracted to her yet. and that noise he made and the fact that he mounted her mean she is able to have babies. if he mounted her for very long it is probably too late. she could already be pregnant. you MUST keep them separeted if you do not want babies. you can let them visit each oter but only if you keep a close eye on them and do not let him mount her, cause it doesn't take much for her to take. Good Luck!!
