I quite smoking 3 months ago and now I have to deal with my lips being darker then what they where 1 year ago. I have tried everything to get them to lighten up a little. Any one have any suggest? I know that lip stick can cover it up, lip gloss, but please only response if you have something helpful and please no saying you shouldn’t have smoked in the 1st place. I know that but what’s done is done and now I'm smoke free (yeah) and just looking for and help if there is any. Stop smoking is the best feeling ever and no should put the next person down. So remember that before answering.

OMG!
CONGRATULATIONS on stopping smoking! thats a great achievement, im sure.

For your question, I suggest to actually moisturize your lips a lot and keep them from getting dry. But, you really should go see a dermatologist *skin doctor* if you need further help. Because my aunt had the same problem and she went to a dermatologist and everything turned out to be alright. Im sure youll be fine too.

Or... you could always go goth with black lipstick, hahaha!
thats also another possibility, although most would balk at such a thought =D

Hope this helped you some!

Your lips are probably darker because you quit smoking and your blood circulation is returning to normal...

And believe it or not dark lipsticks will, with time, leech color out of your lips. I used to be a goth, and it took years to get even a pinkish tone back into my lips after a few years of dark red lipstick and lipgloss in high school (not all goths wear black, lol).

And congratulations on quitting smoking! I've been cigarette-free for the last 6 months, and I know it's not easy.

Congratulations on quitting smoking. I would think that keeping your lips very moisterized would help. You may want to consider checking with a dermatologist for some other help.

Good luck and have a good night.

Apply Vaseline to your lips regularly. Ghee is also very good, apply a little ghee every night. This keeps lips moisturised. You could also apply lemon juice to your lips daily, to lighten them slightly. Wear lipstick with sunscreen, as uv radiation may cause pigmentation.

They make lip masques (I think Mary Kay or Avon) makes it..that exfoliates them.. other than that perhaps getting the area lasered if they can lighten age spots I'm sure they can do that too. and congrats on quitting!!!
