Can it be fixed without the bumper being removed from the car? Is this a small bodywork job that can be done with the bumper still on the car, or do they have to remove it to fix it? The length of the crack is about 2 inches.

To have a professional do it, they would need to take the bumper off, however it can prob. be repaired w/ it attached, by just applying puddy-depending on the location and size of crack and what type material the bumper is made out of. A pro would want to remove it so they can repaint it so that there is no evidence that there was a crack there and to give a smooth uniform look. You can just use touch up paint, but it will prob. not match perfectly to the rest of the bumper.

It will be easier to fix if the bumper is removed. If the crack is all the way thru then some type of Epoxy will have to be applied then sanded smooth then primer painted and baked then painted with a Topcoat and baked then painted with a clearcoat and baked then polished and buffed.

They can fix and paint a small tear or crack in the urethane bumper cover without removing it.

Is it metal or fiberglass? If it is 'glass, it can probably be repaired with a 'glass resin fix; if it's metal and needs to be welded, it has to be removed.

If it has to be painted any color other than the color of the bumper, it should come off first.
