I am getting a lot of pop-ups lately and i was wondering if anyone could recommend a free software that could stop the problem. any tips? : )

Yes, Everyone is correct here. You just dont turn on the computer and advertisements pop up for no apparent reason. Or, while viewing a website more pop ups show out of nowhere. I haven't had a pop up in 3 years actually, lol.
Anyway, heres a few pointers.
Use firefox. Download Adblock Plus extention as well.

Also, download some spyware scanners as well.
AVG Anti-Spyware is good. http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1
Scan with that and delete what it picks up. This is probably what is causing the pops up.
Well, it depends on what websites really, but if your just viewing yahoo or something similar and advertisements pop.. it's most likely spyware infection.

Your best choice would be to install Mozilla Firefox browser, and use their add on to prevent pop ups.
Another option is you have to use IE (which is awful) is to download the Yahoo toolbar. it has an option to prevent pop ups.

I would suggest running a anti-spyware scanner on your system. Most pop-ups are caused by spyware infection. Go to http://www.download.com and Download Ad-Aware or Spybot.

I use Firefox (http://www.mozilla.com), which contains a pop-up blocker and has been working great for me.
