How about the value to the community (not just monetarily) of having a county funded "latch key" program for after school kids whose parents are working to help with homework?.... What would it do to the crime rate? quality of life? Education potential for these otherwise neglected students? Positive impact on the community as a whole? Couple this with a community service program where these kids help out in the community throughout the summer and you have the makings for a successful and proud town!!

I am in an intro to sociology course right now in college, and the first day we talked about suicide and divorce affects on society, try one of those, there's a lot of statistics out there for them.
