There is "No Way' to reset your DVD Drive.
When the DVD Drive came from the factory, it was capable of changing regions a total of 5 times (including the 'Factory's Set').
There is a Free Download that you can use to still use your DVD Drive. It will 'Allow' you to set 'ALL DVD FUNCTIONS'
TO ANY region YOU DESIRE. I set all of my DVDs to region 8, which technically does not exist ( All Ships At Sea ). I can do All Regions with this setting and my DVD Burners will 'Never change or lock forward'.
I believe this may work for you

Good Luck.

I am pretty sure that it is locked at this point. What do you mean the dvd drive has changed itself? If you attempt to play dvd's from different regions, that would be the only cause of the switch. Download a dvd drive, that doesn't make any sense. I would contact the manufacturer of your computer to see if they can/will unlock it for you. If not, yes you may have to replace the drive and that will be expensive.

Manufacturers will not reset the region code they will tell you to buy a new DVD ROM with the desired region code.
There is software out there that claims to allow you to change your region code whenever you want or make your DVD player region free. The catch is there is no guarantee it will work and some only work on specific drives. Also that type of software is illegal in some places.

Most DVD players will only allow you to change the region encoding a few times before locking you out.
You can try contacting the manufacturer of the drive to obtain a reset program.

What happens if I do away with the hardware and plug it back in? could that reset the 4 substitute decrease? No, it won't. that's saved on an IC on the stress itself. you won't have the capacity to reset it. in case you employ your final substitute to set it to area 5 this is then caught completely on area 5. No quantity of unplugging and plugging will restoration that.

Your going to need a new one. Region codes can only be change a couple of times. You could look for hack firmware that will help but if done wrong you could brick it, but you have no other choice know but to try it.
