i dont have children, but im going to give you an observation of children and their parents in the area where i live. frankly, its disgusting. kids run around and all their parents do to stop them is yell "come back by mommy" once, and thats about it. i work at a place that serves food, and the other day in the time it took for me to take this womans order, their children had tipped over a potted plant, and spilled soda all over by the soda machine. our town isnt terrible, there are no murders or anything major like that but there have definatly been incidents where it should make everyone more wary of what their children are doing. the women in my town dont seem to be. im not saying all the women, because some of them happen to be fantastic parents. some of them though make me wonder who allowed them to even think of having children, because they let them run around in malls where there is pretty much nothing but strangers. i feel you should be protective enough to know that your child should at least be where you can see them at all times and you should be able to get to them within ten seconds tops. also, kids tend not to listen...it takes more than a "come back by mommy" to actually get them to do what you want.

No. Children are stolen from their very own beds. They have accidents and mishaps all the time. You have to teach your children the dangers of the world and allow them to make some mistakes. Overprotecting your kids is doing them a terrible disservice. They can't learn what reality is if you keep them in rose tinted glasses. Those are the ones that are trusting and end up as someones victim.

I am VERY over protective. Too many stories on the news these days of children getting kidnapped and then found murdered. I couldn't go on living if that happened to my 2. And the parents that do things to their OWN children...OMG!! How sickening! I have to turn the channel when things like that happen. I was even afraid to leave my house when I was pregnant for fear of one of those sick women finding me and killing me to cut out my unborn child and claiming it was their own. You just cannot trust people these days. Not even a little bit. Thats one of the reason's my husband and I have chose for me to be a stay at home mom because we do not even trust leaving them at a daycare. They are in my care and protection 24/7 unless I can leave them with someone I truly trust, like my mother or my friend who has children of her own. They even go to the gym with me and stay in the childcare there and I can look over and see them from where I am. I love my children too much and fought to carry them to term and couldn't bare the thought of losing them. I would die for them. There are just too many sickos in the world and they better stay away from my babies if they know whats best for them!

Yes. I am. And I hope everyone else is too. I have no qualms about being over protective. They are 5 and 3.

Every little thing freaks me out. I saw the movie Syriana and in it, a little boy dies because he swims in pool where there was an electric shortage. Now my 11 month old can never go in a pool.

I am going to need therapy

I've been giving more independence lately, but it's been hard to let go, even that little bit.

Yes, it's hard, but we have to do this so that our children can grow up to be independent, well adjusted adults, then this is one of the things we must do.

I am verrrrry protective. But, they're boys, They aren't ones to be snuggled and babied. They don't like it. I have to let go at least a little, or so my hubby says... lol

I am definitely overprotective of my 2 kids, they are autistic so they need me more than average kids. And I do not think there is anything wrong with it.
