I have heard some people loose their plug and go into labor within a week. Does it have to be bloody though.

Nope. It sure doesn't have to be blood tinged! If you lose it, you are close to beginning the labor process. That doesn't mean you start a 7 day countdown. It could still be a little while. Congrats!!! I'll be following your lead in July!

When I had my babies the loss of the plug usually indicated the birth of your baby would occur sometime within the next 72 hours.It appears to have changed a little on the timing although it was like clock work with all 7 of my deliveries. And no it doesn't have to be blood tinged sometimes it is but not always!' Take care and get all the sleep and rest that you possibly can as you'll need it. The more rested that you are the easier your labor will be(less frustration etc) Good luck and Congrats!
When you start labor try to keep a happy positive out look,even as the pain increases!

no it does not have to be blood tinged. When you loose your plug it could be anywhere from that second to two weeks til you go into labor. Good luck

as far as I know, the actaul plug always has a red-brown tinge to it.
Are you sure you're loosing your plug??
I have had a really thick white discharge for the last few weeks (33 weeks preg) and apparently its normal (i thought it was my plug too). But I did loose my plug the other day, and it was a bit like the discharge, but it had brownie-sorta blood in it.
Just wait and see what happends i guesss!!!

no i lost my plug 3 days ago and it wasnt bloody buti still havnt gone into labor

it doesnt mean labour will start soon, you can also loose part of the plug only too.
